I have been struggling to come up with a suitable name for my relationship with Wayne , mate , brother, confident do not quite cover it . Wayne was the FIRST friendly face along with Mark Blay I saw on my first day of school, that was 55 years ago . We all become good friends from them on . Wayne was the FIRST to teach me how to climb trees and was the FIRST to laugh when when I fell out of the tree. Wayne was the FIRST to take me sledging in the snow and was the FIRST to take the micky when I crashed the sledge accompanied of course by Mark Blay . Wayne was the FIRST to let me ride his motorbike over the field and the FIRST -I think you know the rest . My FIRST holiday was with Wayne and his family, Pete, Jean and Debbie were always the most welcoming generous people and I will never forget the way they made me feel welcome . I often had dinner with Wayne and his family and what dinners they were, Jean certainly knew how the cook a roast . It was at one of those dinners that Wayne was the First to teach me salad cream really worked well with roast potatoes. I went to the pub for the FIRST time with Wayne we went to the Basildon Art Centre and paid 17 p for a pint of light and lime . The following day I had my FIRST hangover . Wayne was always the FIRST to to share his slightly off the wall taste of music artists such as David Bowie , Dire Straights, Patti Smith, Alex Harvey and many more. I went to my FIRST proper concert was with Wayne, we saw David Bowie at Earles Court, I also remember going to see my FIRST punk band in Clapham Junction. Lots of spitting, swearing and jumping up and down and that was just at Basildon train station before we got on the train . My FIRST holiday abroad was with Wayne along with Mark and a group of great friends. It was a great holiday but was we were all saddened by the news we received that out good friend Mark (Hemmie ) had passed away. Wayne was the FIRST to offer words of comfort for us all and a shoulder to cry on . When Jackie and I were married Wayne was my First choice for best man a title, that sat well with Wayne in all that he did as a friend , Father, Son, Brother and Husband . I could go on for ever about the memories I have of Wayne, his kindness, loyalty as a friend , his sense of humour and I will be forever grateful to him for giving me those memories, but I have stop somewhere I suppose. I count myself as very lucky to have the support of many friends since Waynes passing especially from my great friend Mark, I am sure we will sit and share these and many more memories of our time as Wayne's friend .Thank you all for your friendship x This brings me back to how I can describe what Wayne has been to me, NO 1 Is all I can come up with . Goodbye Wayne, you will never be forgotten, RIP x
